Stardust (GBJam9)
Stardust
A game made in 11 days with GB Studio for GBJam 9 - playable in browser or on your favourite handheld (or on another handheld with an emulator)!
In the distant future, humanity has squandered the Earth's resources. A lone pilot is hauling a valuable cargo to a new home in the galaxy when disaster strikes...
The game is effectively a demo of a potentially larger game - I guess the question is whether this should be turned into a final game?
Features:
- Fight evil aliens!
- Collect power crystals (there are 5 to be found in the game)!
- Interact with computers!
- Smash barrels!
- Reboot the hyperdrive!
- SAVE THE KNOWN UNIVERSE!!!
Issues:
I am aware of a couple of bugs/issues that I haven't been able to resolve as part of the jam - I need to dig a bit deeper into GB Studio to sort these out - something for post-jam!
- Accessing the menu will respawn enemies when closed - I advise not using the menu in screens where there are enemies!
- Collisions are slightly off - if you are directly to the right of an enemy you can get hit.
Controls:
- D-pad to move
- A to interact with stuff (e.g. computer terminals) - not implemented yet
- B to attack (once you have found a weapon...)
- Start to open menu/map screen
Web Desktop Controls:
- Arrow keys to move
- Z key = A
- X key = B
- Enter = Start
Collaborators:
- Game by: Dan Cramp
- Music/SFX By: Adam Audio (https://adamsaunders.itch.io/)
Inspired/influenced by:
- Link's Awakening
- Hyper Light Drifter
- Super Metroid
- ALL of the Alien films...

Nice! This was super fun. I loved the vibe and this is a great demo of what GB Studio is capable of. I really want to dig into GB Studio now!
A sci-fi Zelda ? I'm in.
